Summer retrospective
The summer of 2025 brought us a lot of special moments. For instance, we were in the spotlight of RTL News and Omroep Brabant, we enjoyed a nice summer drink together and we started working on new initiatives such as the Too Good To Go box.
Below is a list of these highlights and more memories from the past few months.
RTL News & Omroep Brabant
This summer, there was a lot of media attention on self-defence. Both RTL News and Omroep Brabant paid attention to the growing importance of defence training. Both items also featured Taus Gym.
Fontys Krav Maga & Teambuilding workshop
With a group of students from Fontys, we organised an afternoon of Krav Maga and team building. It was an energetic and educational experience, focusing on cooperation and pushing boundaries.
Workshop especially for our members: AI in your training
We have something special planned!

Internship Eva
Eva recently started her internship at Taus Gym. You will see her regularly in the gym and during various classes in the near future. In this newsletter, she would like to introduce herself to you:
Hi all!
My name is Eva Dielemans, 17 years old and living in Deurne. Since the end of August, I have been an intern at Taus Gym and am in the second year of the Sport and Exercise course at Yonder.
In the coming period, you will see me walking around more often on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the main location in Tilburg. I look forward to learning a lot, developing myself and, of course, getting to know you all better.

Feel free to speak to me if you run into me at the gym. I love to get acquainted and have a fun and sporty time together!
Sharing together: the new Too Good To Go box
At our main location in Tilburg, you will recently find the Too Good To Go box: an initiative by the community, for the community.
The idea is simple: put things you no longer use yourself but that still deserve a second life in the box. Think of sportswear that no longer fits, accessories or useful items. Other members can then take out something they can put to good use. In this way, we contribute to sustainability together and strengthen the bond within our community.

We hope the box will be widely used: give and take. What is superfluous for one person may be exactly what is needed for another.
Please note: prefer to leave personal items such as bits or toques at home. Anything in the box is also used at your own risk, Taus Gym is not liable for damage or defects.
And don't forget to take an occasional peek in the found objects box too. You don't want to know what valuable items we sometimes find in there....
New website Taus Gym
You've probably already seen it: our new website is live! With a fresh look, better structure and clear information, it is now even easier to find everything you are looking for.

Among other things, what has been improved?
-
A clear homepage with all our training courses and memberships.

-

-
More focus on ease of use and atmosphere, so you get an instant feel for our gym.

Farewell & thanks
After almost 10 years, we say goodbye to our website manager and hosting partner Stofloos. We look back on a fine cooperation, but it was time for a new path. We are extremely happy with our new website partner Byrt.nl, from our own familiar face in the gym: Michael Rademaker. Together with him, we realised the new site.
Also, a big thanks to our member Maarten Zijlmans of Trender.nl for all the tips and tools we were allowed to use, and of course to our own Emma, who did most of the work to put everything down as tightly and clearly as possible.
New Year drinks
We like to usher in the new year festively, together with you! During our annual members' drinks, we will briefly look back on 2025 and toast to a sporty, sociable and educational 2026.

Winter outdoor training 2026
In January, we will once again brave the cold with our annual Winter Outdoor Training! During this special training we move Krav Maga to the streets and train in as realistic conditions as possible.

Therefore, in addition to your sportswear, bring your daily outfit. Dress in layers, so you can easily take something on or off during training. This way, you will experience what it is like to apply techniques in conditions closer to reality.
Winter outdoor training takes place during regular classes. In addition, registration is not necessary for this training.
Below are the dates when the winter outdoor training takes place:
-
Breda: Monday 26 January 2026
-
Tilburg: Tuesday 27 January 2026
Tip: also bring your normal sports gear, in bad weather we train inside.
Discover our full range
As a member of Taus Gym, you have access to a wide range of workouts. Whether you choose Krav Maga, Boxing bag training, Grappling or the FIT classes: you are always welcome to try something different. Many members discover a new favourite or a great addition to their current schedule this way.
Combi Flex membership
Increasingly popular is our Combi Flex membership. With this, you follow three training sessions per week, according to your choice. You are not stuck to one type of training or fixed days, ideal if you like to alternate or have a changing schedule.
Customise membership
You may find that you want to come more often or that another type of training suits you better. You can always change your membership: an upgrade, a switch to Combi Flex or another form that suits your goals. We will be happy to arrange it for you.
Trust
With us, everything is about trust. There are no gates or scanners to check your number of training sessions. Unsure which membership you have? Check the copy of your registration form or confirmation e-mail, or just contact us.

Changeover communication
We love it when you try a different training! However, we always ask you to let us know in advance by e-mail at info@tausgym.nl and await our confirmation. This also applies to young people who want to move on to the adult training courses.
Try a different workout than you are used to this week and let us know what you thought.
Check out all the possibilities on our revamped membership page.
Want to change your membership? You can do that via contact form.
Renewed conditions and house rules
To make everything as clear and straightforward as possible, we have updated our Terms and Conditions and House Rules. This way you know exactly where you stand and together we keep the gym a nice and safe place for everyone.
A few points we tightened up:
-
Memberships and amendments always run per full calendar month.
-
In case of illness or injury, you can temporarily put your membership on hold.
-
There is a clear arrangement for pro-rata payments for mid-month inflows or upgrades.
-
New and clear house rules on hygiene, respect and the safe use of materials.
The full versions can be found here: General terms and conditions and House rules.
You can find the abridged version of the Terms and Conditions here.
Holiday schedule
During the autumn and Christmas holidays, there is a different timetable. Therefore, check the calendar carefully to schedule your training sessions in time.
Extra nice: during the holidays and the week before and after, you can join all training sessions (regardless of your membership)! That means you can take Krav Maga, FIT and Grappling classes in addition to your own. A great opportunity to try something new or train extra.
- Autumn holidays: 11 October to 19 October 2025
- Christmas holidays 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026

COLUMN DIETICIAN MEREL COENDERS
Autumn force
The days are getting shorter, the air is fresher and we prefer to be indoors more often. It is extra important to take in enough nutrients for a good resistance.
Autumn vegetables and fruit are ideal then: they are warming, tasty and good for your health. And that is exactly what your body needs right now.
Moreover, seasonal produce is often cheaper and more sustainable, which is nice!
Here is a list of some seasonal fruits and vegetables;
- Kale is a true vitamin C champion. Vitamin C plays a major role in boosting your immunity. It also helps in the absorption of iron from plant foods. So combining kale with lentils or beans is extra effective.
- Also red beet deserves a place on the menu. This vegetable contains nitrates that improve your sports performance and endurance. In addition, beetroot is full of antioxidants that can inhibit inflammation and support your immune system.
- Apples and pears are typical autumn fruits. Not only do they taste delicious, they are also good for your gut due to the fibre pectin. This helps your digestion and contributes to stable cholesterol. Warm apple also has a soothing effect on intestinal problems. Add some cinnamon and you have a delicious snack.
- Pumpkin is rich in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in your body. This vitamin helps keep your skin and mucous membranes healthy, the first line of defence against viruses. Vitamin A is also important for your eyesight.
Further typical autumn vegetables and fruits are broccoli, all types of cabbage (cauliflower etc), parsnips, mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, carrots, leeks, lamb's lettuce, turnips, pak choi, grape, melon, mandarins, blackberries, plums, and figs.
Opt for the best of the season and give your body what it needs. With
autumn fruits and vegetables on your plate you are not only putting something tasty, but also something
what is really good for you.
