Rob
van den Brand
My name is Rob van den Brand (1976) and father of two kids. In daily life, I am a teacher at the Education Group Tilburg. In 2002, I started at a VMBO school and in 2013 I switched to MBO. Since then, I have been teaching at ROC Tilburg to students of the Safety and Workmanship course. We prepare our students for a position in Defence.
At school, I teach the subjects of Dutch and Maths. I am also a resilience instructor. Today's society brings many challenges. I believe that someone who is resilient on several levels (physically, mentally and morally) can better cope with these challenges.
Born and raised in Tilburg, I went to study in Maastricht in 1995. This is where I was introduced to jujitsu. After I finished studying, I continued this in Tilburg.
However, I was missing something in jiu-jitsu. Through the film ‘Enough’ with Jennifer Lopez, I was introduced to Krav Maga. I delved further into Krav Maga and found that it is a fairly simple but effective self-defence system, applicable in all kinds of situations.
I started Krav Maga in 2009 and have enjoyed training at Taus Gym since March 2013. My highlight was in August 2019 when I achieved Graduate 1 level.
I attend Krav Maga classes and boxing bag training at Taus Gym myself. As an assistant instructor, I sometimes stand in front of the group. I hope to see you in class one day and my aim is for you to go home with a satisfied feeling.
