Taus

Instructor

Since the establishment of Taus Gym in 2010, I have been working as a business manager and all-round instructor. Over the years, our gym has grown into an atmospheric and welcoming environment where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to work on their health, safety and resilience. I am extremely grateful to have this experience and secretly a little proud that we have managed to achieve this success together.

I grew up in a deprived neighbourhood in Tilburg Noord, where aggression and violence were the order of the day. Practising martial arts such as taekwondo and kickboxing played a crucial role in both my physical and mental development. These experiences have shaped me and have been an important motivation in starting Taus Gym.

In my teenage years, I developed a passion for (martial) sports and decided to study Sport Science, where I obtained my Bachelor of Health. During this period, I was introduced to Krav Maga, which positively changed my perspective on self-defence and martial arts. I chose to train as a Krav Maga instructor, which I successfully completed in 2010 under the guidance of Krav Maga master Eyal Yanilov. Since then, I have been giving weekly trainings to individuals, associations and companies. In 2016, I obtained my expert level in Krav Maga in Israel under the guidance of Krav Maga master Avi Moyal, head of IKMF (International Krav Maga Federation).

In 2023, I attended the post-bachelor course in aggression management training at the Pons Academy to further develop my expertise in this field. This course has enabled me to go even deeper into aggression management, allowing me to assist participants in our training courses even better in learning how to verbally de-escalate aggressive situations.

My experience as a trainer goes beyond Krav Maga and physical training. Since the establishment of Taus Gym, I have had the opportunity to coach countless others besides our members, ranging from primary schools to universities, addiction and trauma care institutions, defence, surveillance and enforcement, security guards in training, housing associations to the private sector. Moreover, I have completed several additional training courses in unarmed security and self-defence for both children and women. I also worked as a reservist in defence for several years, focusing on guarding and securing vital objects.

Besides my passion for the gym, I have a few other hobbies. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I also enjoy getting involved in other sports, including running, mountain biking, swimming, bouldering and even the occasional dance. To clarify, just because I enjoy doing something does not mean I am good at it 😉 . In my spare time, I also like to enjoy nature. I prefer to go hiking to unwind and enjoy all the beauty around me. I also like to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy delving into human behaviour and psychology, which is also a valuable complement to my work here at Taus Gym. Understanding group dynamics and individual motivation helps me guide our members even better towards their personal goals.

I am incredibly proud and grateful for the fantastic team at Taus Gym. Our instructors are the foundation of the warm culture within our gym. Thanks to their diverse didactic backgrounds, we are able to offer high-quality classes. The diversity of backgrounds ensures that we learn a lot from each other and that our members bring with them a wide range of experience, knowledge and skills. Do you already know everyone on the Taus Gym Team? Read here more.

As the owner and instructor of Taus Gym, I am dedicated to providing high-quality workouts in a safe and supportive environment. Together with our team, we strive to help our members reach their full potential, both physically and mentally. I hope to see you soon (again) to work together on your personal growth and success.

As an instructor, I admire when our members push their limits and achieve their goals. It goes beyond just building muscle mass or losing weight. It is a journey of personal development and victory, with each individual reaching his or her own milestones.

It often starts with something seemingly small, like simply joining the first class. For some of our members, this can already be a huge step outside their comfort zone. It can bring back memories of childhood traumas, such as falling during a gym class or being a victim of bullying. But it takes courage to overcome those fears and take the first step towards resilience and self-confidence.

For others, it is the first step into a new discipline, such as Krav Maga. Passing their first exam in this self-defence system symbolises not only their physical skills, but also their mental strength and determination.

Some of our members seek challenges outside the gym walls, such as participating in obstacle runs, grappling competitions or preparing for police and defence fitness tests. These challenges have both physical and mental demands, and it is inspiring to see how our members prepare and ultimately succeed.

At Taus Gym, we believe in creating a supportive and stimulating environment in which our members can grow and flourish. It is a privilege to be part of their journey and to see them transform not only their bodies, but also their minds. It is this satisfaction that motivates me every day to give my best and help our members achieve their goals.
