NEWSLETTER VOLUME 9 NR 1

By Riaz 0

First of all, we would like to wish everyone a happy and successful New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holidays and can get back to work with new energy and motivation. In this newsletter, we discuss the pre-test exams and national exams, participation in Meet The Marines 2020, the new Women Only Course and the new option to rent the Taus Gym hall. The new year offers us a great time to look back on 2019 and the chance to start again with fresh eyes on 2020. Of course, we will do this in full cooperation with you, our members.

Taus Gym's community has grown even bigger and stronger over the past few years. We are proud of how you develop within the sport, but also how you help each other in that development. What we obviously aim for is that every person develops resilience, both mentally and physically. This only happens when we can work on this in a safe environment. We cannot achieve this without the active participation of our members. We would like to thank you for that!

PRE-TEST EXAMS

Is it your ambition to compete in the Krav Maga exams this year? Then it's always a good idea to take part in the pre-test exams. Here, we will take you step by step through all the techniques and at the end of your “exam” you will receive immediate feedback. This way, you will know how to further prepare yourself for the actual exam.

The P1 pre-test is open to everyone. The P2 pre-test is only open to anyone who is P1 or higher, and the P3 pre-test is only open to anyone who is P2 or higher. During the pre-test of higher levels, there is the possibility of free training at rest.

All training sessions take place at 26 January. The time schedule is as follows:

13:00 - 14:30 P1 (P2 or above may also participate)

14:30 - 16:00 P2 (P3 or above may also participate)

16:00 - 17:00 P3

The cost is €10. Subscribe for the pre-test exams can be done by Tuesday, 14 January.

COUNTRYKE KRAV MAGA EXAMS

In the coming months, members of Taus Gym can once again compete in the national Krav Maga exams. This time, the P2 and P4 exams will be hosted. These will take place in Sporthal Waterwijk Almere (IJsselmeerweg 48, Almere). Any member not participating in these exams is also invited to come and watch and support the participants!

February 29 (10:00): P2

March 1 (10:00): P4

Sign up for the national Krav Maga exams can be done until February 5.

MEET THE MARINES

This year too, we want to take on the challenge with some Taus Gym warriors and participate in Meet The Marines. Here, participants have to achieve missions in groups that challenge them both physically and mentally. These missions are organised and led by the elite of the Dutch armed forces.

The event will run for 24 hours over the days of 23 and 24 May, 2020. There are still three places left at the price of €141 per person, so register quickly! Once these three tickets are sold, the price to join will rise to €161 per person. So sign up soon!

WOMEN ONLY COURSE

The first Women Only Course ran more successfully than we ever dreamed. The course will therefore return next year for women who want to learn to defend themselves in situations they are more likely to face. These situations will be recreated in a safe environment, with guidance from a professional instructor.

The upcoming 9-part Women Only Course will run from 27 January to 30 March. If you would like to take a free trial class, you can take one on the following days:

6 January: 19:15 - 20:30

13 January: 19:15 - 20:30

What classes do you take: krav and fit

What do you do in daily life?
I have been working as a façade cleaner and apprentice sweeper at Orly/Endevoets group for two and a half years and I really like it. I also like to go travelling and to festivals or a games/movie night with friends.
For what purpose do you exercise?
To stay fit and become physically and mentally stronger.
How does Taus Gym help you achieve those goals?
The training sessions provided are a good challenge, I am always triggered to go the extra mile.
What is your favourite memory of Taus Gym?
Still, getting my P1 in Krav Maga.
What does sport mean to you physically and mentally?
You just feel more comfortable in your skin after a night of popping at Taus Gym!
Suppose you have a big challenge in the near future, how do you prepare yourself mentally?
I usually go running then to clear my head for a while. Music on and go.

What helps you relax?
An evening watching a film or series
What skills would you still like to have or improve.
As I have already told you, I am an apprentice feeder, but there are still many things within my field that I can learn.
Are you more of a goal-oriented or process-oriented person?
I am usually goal-oriented anyway. In fact, I don't always take the time to follow an entire process.
What is your motto?
Live full, die empty
Do you have any sports and/or health tips that have worked for you that you would like to share with other members?
You can do more than you think, but listen carefully to your own body.
