You will also find the latest updates on the upcoming Krav Maga exams and their preparations.

Wondering what's on at Taus Gym in the coming months? Then read on quickly!

CIC at Taus Gym

The Civil Instructor Course will be organised at Taus Gym! During this intensive course, aspiring Krav Maga instructors are trained to become full-fledged Krav Maga instructors. We are proud to announce that Emma will also join this course!

The CIC lasts 23 days and is split into three blocks in December, February and March:

  • CIC part 1:          Friday 6 Dec to Sunday 15 Dec 2024
  • CIC part 2:          Friday 31 Jan to Sunday 9 Feb 2025
  • CIC part 3:          Thursday 13 Mar to Saturday 15 Mar 2025

During the CIC, the class schedule will change a little on weekends. Saturday and Sunday morning classes will be moved to 5.30pm in the same order. Therefore, please keep the agenda carefully so there are no surprises.

Women only: Empowerment Workshop

At Taus Gym, we are seeing a growing number of women joining us, and we are immensely proud of that. To celebrate this success, we are inviting all our female members to a special workout!

This training focuses on situations women may face in everyday life. Together with other powerful women, you will work on resilience in a challenging environment.

This training will be provided at Thursday 16 January 2025 By IKMF Stay Away director Louise Pross.

All ladies from Taus Gym are welcome to join this workout, even if you only take the FIT or Grappling classes. The contribution is €15.

We are still looking for a suitable venue and time. These will be announced soon.

The registration deadline is 2 January 2025. Sign up via contact form.

Members' drinks

The end of 2024 is already in sight and we would like to end it festively together with you. During the annual members' drinks, we will look back on a beautiful and enjoyable year and look forward to the start of a new one.

With snacks, drinks and a lot of fun, we will organise the get-together on Saturday 14 December 2024 at our location in Tilburg, Professor Romeinstraat 11A.

All members aged 16 and over are welcome from 7pm and the own contribution is €15.

Sign up for the drinks before 14 November 2024 via contact form.

Holiday schedule

During the autumn and Christmas holidays, we operate a modified class schedule. Therefore keep a close eye on the agenda in order to schedule your workouts properly.

Also good to know: during the holidays with the week before and after you may attend any training regardless of your membership!

That means you can join all Krav Maga and FIT classes. In addition, there is also Grappling which you can participate in during holiday periods.

Autumn holidays: 19 October to 27 October 2024

Christmas holidays: 21 December 2024 to 5 January 2025

Women Only Krav Maga course

We will soon be starting a new Women Only Krav Maga course again! This course focuses on strengthening self-confidence, developing effective self-defence techniques for situations that specifically women face more often, such as intimidation and (sexual) violence. Standing up for yourself and indicating boundaries is also an important part of the course.

COLUMN DIETICIAN MEREL COENDERS

Trainee at Just Dietetics

My name is Isis van der Velden and I am currently doing the MBO course ‘’consultant sustainable living environment’’ at Yuverta in Tilburg.

I am doing an internship at Gewoon Diëtetiek because I am following the lifestyle specialisation on my course and I want to learn more about nutrition and health.

This article is about food print, I chose to write about this topic because it has often been covered in school and because it is very important for our future.

What is your food footprint?

Eating healthy is good, but eating sustainably is also important. By looking at your food footprint, you can find out whether you are a sustainable eater. In this article you will read what the food footprint means, its importance and how you can reduce your food footprint.

CALCULATE YOUR FOOD FOOTPRINT

DO THE TEST!

Earth is made up of land and water. The land is used for agriculture to grow food for people. Every person uses some of this space on earth. Currently, people are using too much earth's surface, resulting in the earth not being able to recover in time to continue providing us with food. If the world's population is divided by the earth's surface area, the amount of land available is calculated. Based on a fair distribution, there is only 0.9 hectares of agricultural land available per person. Overall, an average Dutch person uses 1.6 hectares of agricultural land. This is more than is available and causes damage to the environment.

Reducing your food footprint can contribute to a more sustainable future for our planet. Reducing your food footprint helps reduce the strain on natural resources, such as water and land. By reducing your food footprint, we can reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which helps fight climate change.

There are several ways you can make sure you become a more sustainable eater. For example, by eating less meat and dairy. Dairy products have a larger carbon footprint than plant-based foods.

Buying local and seasonal produce is also a good choice. These products often have a lower impact as they require less transport energy. Also make sure you don't waste food, but rather store it so that the food can be eaten the following day, for example.

Now that you know what the food footprint means, you probably want to find out how big your food footprint is! Via the nutrition centre's website (Food print - Food Centre), you can fill in a test and get to see exactly how many hectares of farmland you use. Below are tips that can help you reduce your food footprint!
