By Riaz 2

Autumn has arrived, which means another new sports season has also started at Taus Gym. For the upcoming season, we are once again eager to keep you safe and fit during the autumn and winter months! In this newsletter, you can find information on: IKMF membership, materials you need for class, pre-tests and exams, winter outdoor workouts and the holiday schedule.

IKMF membership

From 2023, youth and children must also be registered with the IKMF. An IKMF membership is needed, among other things, to take your Krav Maga exam. Membership costs 10,- per year and ensures that the federation can guarantee the quality and continuity of lessons. You can here find more information about membership and registration with IKMF. Future deregistration should also be done through IKMF.

Materials and clothing

To exercise safely and responsibly, you need the right materials and clothing. We sell all supplies on site. If you want to buy something, you can tell one of the instructors. If we have it in stock, you can use it right away. More information on what you need for training and the prices of clothes and materials can be found at here view!

If you prefer to order materials elsewhere, please discuss with one of the instructors whether they are suitable for training. This way, we can assure each other that everyone can exercise pleasantly and safely.

Krav Maga: winter outdoor training

We will give not one, but four days of winter outdoor training next winter. 12 to 15 December will be all about outdoor training. This means that all Krav Maga classes in Tilburg and Breda for adults, teenagers and kids will be held in the dark. To train as realistically as possible, you should bring your everyday clothes and footwear. We recommend putting on several layers, so you can take things on and off easily.

To be on the safe side, also bring your normal sports shoes and clothes, because if the weather turns bad, we will of course just train inside.

The gathering location is the standard training venue. We hope to see everyone at these special training sessions!

Holiday schedule

During the autumn and Christmas holidays, a modified schedule will go into effect. You can find this adjusted schedule in our agenda. Don't forget to check during the holidays when classes are held.

Intestinal complaints around exercise

Sufficient exercise is important for good bowel function. It stimulates circulation and the squeeze-push movement of your bowels. It combats constipation and has a protective effect against colon cancer.

Still, you may experience gastrointestinal symptoms around intense exercise. Think heartburn, diarrhoea, bloating, flatulence, nausea or abdominal cramps. This can be a problem especially with prolonged exercise. Causes may include mechanical shock movements during exercise, temporarily reduced blood flow, hormonal factors and diet.

Do you ever suffer from gastrointestinal discomfort during and after exercise. In that case, try the following tips:

  • Have a large meal 2-3 hours before exercising. Are you still hungry just before exercising? Have a small snack, such as fruit, a cracker or a sandwich.
  • Don't have a meal high in fats, proteins and dietary fibre before exercise. These nutrients need more time to digest.
  • Do not have carbonated drinks before exercise.
  • If gastrointestinal symptoms occur regularly: avoid gas-forming foods such as onions, beans and cabbage.
  • Do not take caffeine before exercise.

Do you suffer from gastrointestinal complaints more often and want to change this? Make an appointment at Gewoon Diëtetiek. Together, we will look for the cause of these complaints and find a suitable solution. From the basic insurance, you are entitled to 3 hours of nutritional guidance by a dietician. Please note that a deductible applies. Do you have supplementary insurance? Then you are often entitled to extra hours.
