TAUS TIPS - 4 TIPS FOR TRAINING IN HOT WEATHER

By Riaz 0

It probably hasn't escaped your notice; Summer has begun! Temperatures are rising again and have already given us extremely hot days. Very nice if you're spending a day at the beach, but if, like us at Taus Gym, you just have to keep going, it can be very uncomfortable. Does that mean you can't exercise anymore? Absolutely not! We have a few tips that will help you too exercise safely and enjoyably in exotic temperatures!

Drink and eat enough

Your body consumes more during extreme temperatures. It is therefore important to get enough nutrients and fluids. According to the Nutrition Centre an adult needs to drink an average of 1.5 to 2 litres. This can be in the form of water, but this is often not enough. Isotonic drinks, such as Aquarius, are often a better choice. This is because isotonic drinks replenish minerals, salt and sugar; Something that water alone cannot do. These drinks also help prevent nasty ailments like cramping! Above all, drink plenty before coming to our training sessions. We also regularly organise Krav Maga classes with water on our outdoor court in this heat.

Train in the morning or evening

’Morning and evening are the coolest times of the day. By avoiding the hottest times of the day, you don't have to expose yourself to the uncomfortable heat! Did you already know that Taus Gym has a modified summer schedule? Check the agenda here.

Wear airy clothes

Although we often perceive sweat as something annoying, it is extremely functional. Sweating allows us to release body heat and cool down. It is therefore very important to wear clothes that “breathe” and do not trap heat.

Avoid the sun

Exposure to the sun means your body heats up faster. This, combined with not drinking enough, can lead to life-threatening sunstroke. Your skin can also burn, which can also have serious consequences. If you really must go outside, apply sunscreen and drink enough!

At Taus Gym, your safety is number one. We therefore take your limits into account. So fear not and join us for the hottest summer days! Sign up for a free trial lesson, or check out here information on all our subscriptions.
