Pross
Helping someone to goals achieving or even going beyond that and pushing boundaries, that is the best and most enjoyable work I can imagine. For that reason, I also chose to become a teacher and now work at the Fontys School of Economics. My name is Louise Pross and I teach English, intercultural communication and teach the subject Video. I also enjoy working as a student counsellor and educational developer. I am also currently working on my second master's degree (Creative and Media Education) to deepen my knowledge of pedagogy. To get stronger both physically and mentally, I started playing sports at Taus Gym four years ago. Here I was first introduced to Krav Maga and this quickly became more than a self-defence sport for me, It became a real passion.
I have been interested in martial arts from a young age. During the years I lived with my family in Asia, I was introduced to taekwondo and in Japan also kendo. When I was 18, I left Japan to study at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. During these years, sport has always been very important to me. For instance, I rowed at student rowing club Orca for a while. After my studies, I started travelling again and lived and worked in China for a while. In China, I also started teaching English to adults and children aged 5-12. At that time, I discovered that I really have a passion for teaching. Besides teaching children, I also started volunteering at a shelter for disabled children in Beijing. I continued my love for teaching and coaching in all my work as a teacher at Berlitz in Beijing. And also later as a personal development coach at the HR department of STMicroelectronics in Singapore.
Through experiences abroad, I became increasingly interested in personal safety. For this reason, I started looking for a self-defence system that was realistic, quick to learn and also easy to practice as a woman. This is how I ended up with Krav Maga. For me, Krav Maga is the ultimate self-defence system because of the way it seamlessly follows instinctive reactions. Everyone is capable of learning Krav Maga and this is where I would like to help. My goal is to give everyone the opportunity to learn self-defence in a safe and trusted environment, and in doing so, to push their own limits. I believe that the development and learning process is different for everyone, which is why personal attention is always paramount with me.
