Newsletter summer 2024 kids & youngsters
Summer has begun and we are heading into the season full of sunshine, energy and fun!
In this edition, we take a quick look back at all the events and achievements we have made in the past period.
We will also keep you updated again on what the coming period will look like. The following things are planned again: the outdoor training sessions, Women Only Krav Maga course and the exams and their preparations.
Spring retrospective
We look back at last season with great pleasure and pride. We learnt a lot about first aid and safety during the first aid course and for the first time, kids and youngsters went up for the national exam.
We also raised nice amounts for charity during the Night Against Sexual Violence and FIT Champions.
Below is a recap of these top performances!
.
First aid course
The annual first aid course has been completed again! This course teaches you how to act in the event of
administering first aid and also about safety during training sessions.
This year, one of the young people participated in this course and also passed!
.
Night Against Sexual Violence
Nearly 500 participants took part in the Night Against Sexual Violence.
A 20km run through Amsterdam in the middle of the night!
This is the second edition that has taken place and this time the event raised a staggering amount of over €107,000
.
FIT Champions
After a successful first edition of FIT Champions, the second edition will return next year!
During the event, we took up the challenge together and raised money
for charity.
.
Passed! Local exams
In the recent period, the local exams have also been held and we are proud of our successful exam candidates!
.
Passed! Nationwide exams J2
Besides the local exams, the national exams for J2 have also been back.
Our members passed this, making them the first youngsters from Taus Gym to sit for national exams.
A top performance!
.
Passed! National exams K2
Not only the youngsters went for exams. The kids also trained hard for the national K2 exam and passed it too!
We are extremely proud of this fine achievement.
Outdoor training courses
With the temperatures rising, it's time again to exercise outside! This summer, classes will take place outside so we can exercise together in the fresh outdoors.
In both Tilburg and Breda, there will be until 30 September 2024 be the opportunity to train outdoors. Whether outdoor training takes place depends on the weather and the topic we are covering.
Please note that there will always be the option to train outside. Therefore, please bring your indoor and outdoor trainers to classes in the coming period.

In Breda, the gym is closed during the summer holidays. Therefore, outdoor training sessions will take place on a number of fixed dates.
On the dates opposite, there are outdoor training sessions in Breda.
Please note! No changing room and toilets will also be available on these dates.

Change in membership fees
As a socially engaged gym, we strive to make training accessible to the widest possible audience. We do this because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate in high-quality resilience and fitness training in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Despite this, we cannot escape the fact that we also face rising costs. As a result, we have to adjust our membership fees from time to time.
For new members, this price change will apply from 1 July 2024. For current members, this only applies from 1 September 2024.
For multi-year memberships, the discount of 10%, 20% or 30% will of course continue to apply to the new membership fee.
Would you like to change your membership or have a question? Let us know via contact form.
We would like everyone to have the opportunity to play sports with us. We are therefore working hard to join municipal initiatives that can provide support for anyone who is struggling financially.
Want to know more about this? Then check out this page.
Holiday schedule
The summer holidays are almost upon us! This also means that there will be a holiday schedule and the class schedule will look a little different.
The holiday schedule can be found in our agenda so make sure you check these in advance so you can plan your workouts properly.
From 22 July to 4 August we are closed and there is no class. In all other weeks of the holidays, there is a modified schedule.
During the weeks when there is a modified schedule, you may participate in all the training sessions we offer. The youngsters may even join all adult workouts!
Summer holidays: 6 July to 18 August 2024

Together we stand strong against cancer:
Support me in the fight against cancer.
Hello fellow athletes, I am Michael Rademaker a member from the very beginning. Thanks to Taus Gym, I am living a healthy and active life. Where before I struggled to go to the gym, I go to Taus Gym with great pleasure and motivation.
I now want to harness this developed energy and strength for a good cause that affects me personally. On 1 September, I will take part in Swim & Dance to Fight Cancer.
For me, this participation has a deeply personal meaning. The loss of my aunt to cancer and the diagnosis of my mother, who was fortunately successfully treated, makes this a current theme in my life. These experiences have strengthened my resolve to help others in their fight against this disease.
By participating in Swim & Dance to Fight Cancer, I not only want to do my bit to raise funds for cancer research, but also inspire others to get moving and fight for their health.
Together, we can ensure that more people get the chance of successful treatment.

Support me and my mission through my personal action page on Fight Cancer:
Together, we can make a difference.
COLUMN DIETICIAN MEREL COENDERS
Healthy mouth
I recently joined Tandartspraktijk Mondhuys in Oosterhout as a dietician. Here, I get to work advising people on nutrition and a healthy mouth. Their vision: prevention is better than repair. Brushing well is important in this, but so is eating well.
So for the next while, I'm looking into nutrition and oral health.
Good oral health prevents bad breath, cavities, tooth decay and gum problems. It also ensures that you can maintain your teeth as you age.
Tooth loss affects food choice and quality of life.
Because a healthy mouth is important for everyone, in this newsletter I share some practical tips that can help protect tooth enamel and prevent cavities.
.
- Choose 3 main meals daily
and a maximum of 4 snacks.
- Limit consumption of: soft drinks with/without sugar, lemonade with/without
sugar, fruit juices, sports drinks,
etc.
- If you do take any of the above drinks, drink them all at once.
Small sips over a long period of time do not give the tooth enamel enough time to recover.
Then rinse your mouth with water.
.
.
- Swallow these drinks as soon as possible
through or drink with a straw.
- Limit sugar intake. Take a critical look at the ingredients list of products. Are there any unconsciously
sugars added to it?
- Don't brush teeth too close to a meal. This is because you will damage tooth enamel. Wait at least 30
minutes before brushing your teeth. If you have eaten or drunk something acidic (e.g. orange juice), wait at least 60 minutes.
