Spring retrospective
Last period saw many (new) events where we had many great memories and experiences.
Below is a summary of these unique moments.
.
First aid course
The annual first aid course has been completed again! This course teaches you how to act in the event of
administering first aid and also about safety during training sessions.
.
Meet The Marines
Team Taus Gym also successfully completed the 24H Marines Experience this year.
This time at the hardest level namely level 3!
.
Night Against Sexual Violence
Nearly 500 participants took part in the Night Against Sexual Violence.
A 20km run through Amsterdam in the middle of the night!
This is the second edition that has taken place and this time the event raised an incredibly nice amount of over €107,000!
.
FIT Champions
After a successful first edition of FIT Champions, the second edition will return next year!
During the event, we took up the challenge together and raised money
for charity.
.
Passed!
In the recent period, the local exams have also been held and we are proud of our successful exam candidates!
.
Passed!
Not only the adults went for exams. The youngsters also started training fanatically for the national J2 exam which they passed.
They are the first youngsters from Taus Gym to have been on national exams. A top achievement!
Meet The Marines tryout
Unity, strength and dedication. The corps values of the Marine Corps and the core values during the 24H Marines Experience. During this event, you will go on a 24-hour run. With your team, you will carry out missions and be challenged physically and mentally.
This year, we are organising a special training inspired by this event. During this Meet The Marines try-out, you will rise to the challenge.
Together with your team, you will perform groundbreaking activities and overcome the obstacles you will encounter.

The Meet The Marines try-out is accessible and feasible for all members of Taus Gym. You will therefore follow this training only with members of Taus Gym as a team for a period of +/- 4 hours.
The focus is on team building, gaining new experiences and stepping outside your comfort zone.

Special Women Only training
We see more and more women joining Taus Gym over the years and are extremely proud of all the women who work out with us. We would like to celebrate this with a special workout for all our female members!
During this training, you will cover techniques and scenarios tailored to situations women often experience in a unique environment. With a motivating and supportive group of women, we aim to highlight your strength and perseverance.
This training will be provided by IKMF Stay Away director Louise Pross.
The date of this training and further details will follow later. You can already express your interest via contact form.
All ladies from Taus Gym are welcome to join this workout, even if you only take the FIT or Grappling classes.
Members' BBQ
The annual members' BBQ is back on the schedule! During this event, we leave all our sports equipment at home for a while and get together to have a drink and a bite to eat.
This year's members' BBQ will take place at Saturday 7 September 2024 on Professsor Romeinstraat 11a in Tilburg.
The contribution is €20 from 6pm (for food + drinks). If you come from 20.00h, the contribution is €10 (drinks only).
Everyone from 16 years old is welcome to come.

Sign up for the BBQ via contact form. You can register up to 7 August 2024 register so be there in time!
Questionnaire
As a gym, we like to keep developing and we do make adjustments and changes from time to time where necessary. We are very curious about how you experience Taus Gym and if you have any uncertainties or suggestions.
We have prepared a questionnaire to see if there are certain things that could be improved, in particular the class schedule. Your input will be of immense value for this. Indeed, the outcome may determine changes to the roster. It is therefore important that all members fill it in.
Going through this questionnaire will take no more than 5 minutes of your time and will help us make improvements.
Outdoor training courses
Now that the days are getting warmer, it's also time to enjoy some outdoor training again. In the coming period, a number of outdoor training sessions are scheduled so that we can exercise together in the fresh air!
In both Tilburg and Breda, there will be until 30 September 2024 be the option to train outside. Whether a training session will take place outside depends on the weather and that week's theme.
So during this period, it is important to bring your indoor and outdoor sports shoes to classes.

In Breda, the gym is closed during the summer holidays and outdoor training sessions will take place on a number of dates.
Please note that changing rooms and toilets will not be available then either.
On the dates opposite, there are outdoor training sessions in Breda.

Change in membership fees
As a socially engaged gym, we strive to make training accessible to the widest possible audience. We do this because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate in high-quality resilience and fitness training in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Despite this, we cannot escape the fact that we also face rising costs. As a result, we have to adjust our membership fees from time to time.
For new members, this price change will apply from 1 July 2024. For current members, this only applies from 1 September 2024.
For multi-year memberships, the discount of 10%, 20% or 30% will of course continue to apply to the new membership fee.
Would you like to change your membership or have a question? Let us know via contact form.
We would like everyone to have the opportunity to play sports with us. We are therefore working hard to join municipal initiatives that can provide support for anyone who is struggling financially.
Want to know more about this? Then check out this page.
Holiday schedule
The summer holidays are upon us again and that means the class schedule will look different for a while.
From 22 July to 4 August we are closed, which means there will be no classes then. In the remaining weeks there is a modified schedule. Please check the agenda so you can plan your workouts properly.
During the weeks when there is a modified schedule, you are welcome to participate in all the training sessions we offer (regardless of your membership)!
Summer holidays: 6 July to 18 August 2024

Together we stand strong against cancer
Support me in the fight against cancer.
Hello fellow athletes, I am Michael Rademaker a member from the very beginning. Thanks to Taus Gym, I am living a healthy and active life. Where before I struggled to go to the gym, I go to Taus Gym with great pleasure and motivation.
I now want to harness this developed energy and strength for a good cause that affects me personally. On 1 September, I will take part in Swim & Dance to Fight Cancer.
For me, this participation has a deeply personal meaning. The loss of my aunt to cancer and the diagnosis of my mother, who was fortunately successfully treated, makes this a current theme in my life. These experiences have strengthened my resolve to help others in their fight against this disease.
By participating in Swim & Dance to Fight Cancer, I not only want to do my bit to raise funds for cancer research, but also inspire others to get moving and fight for their health.
Together, we can ensure that more people get the chance of successful treatment.

Support me and my mission through my personal action page on Fight Cancer:
Together, we can make a difference.
COLUMN DIETICIAN MEREL COENDERS
Healthy mouth
I recently joined Tandartspraktijk Mondhuys in Oosterhout as a dietician. Here, I get to work advising people on nutrition and a healthy mouth. Their vision: prevention is better than repair. Brushing well is important in this, but so is eating well.
So for the next while, I'm looking into nutrition and oral health.
Good oral health prevents bad breath, cavities, tooth decay and gum problems. It also ensures that you can maintain your teeth as you age.
Tooth loss affects food choice and quality of life.
Because a healthy mouth is important for everyone, in this newsletter I share some practical tips that can help protect tooth enamel and prevent cavities.
.
- Choose 3 main meals daily
and a maximum of 4 snacks.
- Limit consumption of: soft drinks with/without sugar, lemonade with/without
sugar, fruit juices, sports drinks,
etc.
- If you do take any of the above drinks, drink them all at once.
Small sips over a long period of time do not give the tooth enamel enough time to recover.
Then rinse your mouth with water.
.
.
- Swallow these drinks as soon as possible
through or drink with a straw.
- Limit sugar intake. Take a critical look at the ingredients list of products. Are there any unconsciously
sugars added to it?
- Don't brush teeth too close to a meal. This is because you will damage tooth enamel. Wait at least 30
minutes before brushing your teeth. If you have eaten or drunk something acidic (e.g. orange juice), wait at least 60 minutes.
