Special classes FIT circuit
This month's FIT circuit classes will become part of a larger training programme. By following a specific training schedule in the coming classes, there will be an immediate performance improvement in strength, speed and endurance.
From 10 April to 1 May, these special classes will be taught by Niek as part of his internship assignment. To properly measure this performance improvement, fitness tests will also be taken. These will take place the week before and after.
These workouts and tests are also valuable workouts, so even if you cannot follow the (whole) schedule, you are welcome to join! The remaining classes will of course remain regular FIT circuit workouts.
Below are all the lessons that are part of the programme:

FIT champions
On 5 May, for the first time ever, we will organise FIT champions at Taus Gym! This exciting event promises to be a day full of energy, sportsmanship and challenge.
Get ready for a series of FIT challenges that will challenge you to get the best out of yourself. This day is specially designed to test your strength, endurance and perseverance. From strength training to cardio, we have something for everyone.
And that's not all. By participating in FIT champions, you not only contribute to your own well-being, but also to a noble cause. Profits from the event will be donated to charity Muscles for Muscles.
This organisation is committed to helping children with muscular diseases in the Netherlands. They fund research into muscle diseases, offer help to patients and their families, and strive to improve the quality of life for children with these conditions.

This way, we can not only pursue our own fitness goals, but also have a positive impact on the world around us. FIT champions is much more than just a series of competitions; it is a celebration of fitness and well-being where people of all levels come together.
To the right, you can find the programme we will be running at this event.
Everyone is welcome to participate in FIT champions. The event will take place at our main location in Tilburg at Prof. Romeinstraat 11A and the contribution is €15 per participant.
Doors open at 10.00am and we start at 10.30am, so make sure you are on time!
Highlight Sunday 5 May 2024 in your diary and don't miss this day! You can register via contact form.
Hope to see you then!
Night Against Sexual Violence
Sexual violence is a reality that can take many forms, from unwanted behaviour and harassment to (physical) abuse. Globally, 1 in 3 women experience these forms of violence.
On the night of 20-21 April, a walk will be organised in Amsterdam to draw attention to the issue.
Plan International is the organisation behind the event and with the motto ‘Everyone should be able to walk the streets safely’ we want to create a culture where everyone feels safe, respected and heard.
On this Night Against Sexual Violence, we encourage everyone to join the walk and make change in the world.
Are you 18 years or older and would like to join? You can sign up by sending an email to Louise (stayaway@ikmf.nl). She is the head of the women's division in the Netherlands and organises the team that will run from IKMF.
Can't participate but would like to contribute to the event? Make a donation at Louise or Emma.
Members' outing
The much-anticipated members' outing is on the cards again and this year we will be shooting again. As mentioned in the mail, the original date is unfortunately no longer going ahead due to insufficient instructors at the shooting club on that day. We are awaiting a new date. It will be announced as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, there is currently no more space but anyone who is still interested may still sign up and you will be put on the reserve list.
For those who have registered, additional information on the venue and time will be sent soon.
We hope to see you at this new date!
Meet The Marines
The 24H Meet The Marines Experience is also coming up again. In May, team Taus Gym will again take on this challenge like previous years. For 24 hours, they will be challenged together to get the most out of themselves and each other.
Curious about what Meet The Marines has to offer? Then check out the blog from last year to get an impression.

There are currently 2 spots left in the team. Would you like to complete the team? Then sign up now via contact form.
First aid course
The first aid course is coming up again. This course gives us the knowledge and skills to ensure safety during training sessions. Accidents can happen both within the sports world and in everyday life, so it is important to be prepared.
The course is organised every year and consists of a theorypart, which you can take online in advance, and a practical part at the main location in Tilburg.
The upcoming course is currently full. Would you like to join next year? You can express your interest via contact form.
Team Taus Gym update
In recent times, some new faces have passed by during training sessions, some familiar and others perhaps not yet. We like to keep you updated on the talented individuals who make up team Taus Gym.
On our updated team page get to know the trainers, who are dedicated to helping you achieve your training goals and enhance your sports experience at Taus Gym. Learn more about their background, motivation and passion for fitness, resilience and martial arts.

Curriculum training on Wednesdays
The Krav Maga training on Wednesdays is to look different. Previously, more advanced techniques were covered during this training but that has changed to a regular curriculum training.

The curriculum training is ideal for training at your own level. During this training, you will cover the techniques belonging to your level. It is an ideal training and certainly a good preparation for the exams.
The warm-up is done together and at the end there is always the opportunity to spar a bit more!
Please note! The 2 annual curriculum training sessions that took place on Sundays are cancelled.
Holiday schedule
In the coming months, there are some times when the class schedule will look different. This is because during holidays and public holidays, there are training sessions that will be cancelled. Therefore keep a close eye on the agenda in the eye so you will never face any surprises.
During the holidays with the week before and the week after, you may participate in all types of training sessions. No matter what kind of membership you have at that time, you are welcome to join!
May holidays: 28 April to 5 May 2024
Women Only Krav Maga course

Also in this period, we will start again with the Women Only Krav Maga course. This course focuses on women's resilience and is part of the Stay Away programme of the IKMF.
A
Krav Maga focuses on defending against aggression and violence but women face this in a different way to men. The course we offer focuses on situations where
women specifically face. Think of sexual harassment.
A
A
The Women Only Krav Maga course teaches you practical self-defence techniques but also helps in boosting self-confidence. There is also a lot of
paid attention to discovering and indicating your limits in different situations.
A
Over 9 lessons, we will work together to increase your resilience and teach you valuable skills for everyday life.
The course is taught in a safe and supportive environment that welcomes all experiences, fitness levels and ages.
Want more information about the course? Then take a look at our Women Only course page.
Want to experience the course for yourself? Then come to our free trial class on Monday 8 or 15 April 2024 and please let us know via the trial lesson form.
The course itself will take place at Monday from 22 April to 1 July 2024. Want to sign up for the course already? That too can be done via the registration form.
We look forward to completing the course with you!
Exams
In May and June, exams are coming up again! Is it your goal to reach the next level in Krav Maga? Check out all the information and tips on exams and preparation below.

Pre-test
The pre-test is the ideal training to see if you are ready for the exams. During this training, you show your knowledge and skills about Krav Maga. Before that, you know all the techniques of the level you want to go for.
The pre-test follows the same structure as the official IKMF exam, making it a valuable part of your training towards the exam. At the end, you will also receive feedback that will help you in your further training. After the pre-test, you will know whether you are completely ready for the exam.
You can register for the pre-test via contact form. Please note! 3 April 2024 is the registration deadline.

COLUMN DIETICIAN MEREL COENDERS
High Protein
Supermarkets are full of ‘protein’ products these days. Brands such as HIPRO sell drinks, puddings and other dairy products that contain a large amount of protein. More and more household brands are also capitalising on this trend. In practice, I am often asked whether these products are good to use in combination with sports.
It seems promising, that large amount of protein. The HIPRO Protein skyr style contains 15g of protein per 160g tub, which is good value, you might say. But a plain skyr already contains almost 17g of protein per 160g. You pay a lot more for the HIPRO skyr: €9.31 per kilo. For Albert Heijn's natural skyr you pay 2.90 euros per kilo. So you get less protein for your money.
In addition, the ingredient list of such a protein product consists of many more additives. Whereas an ordinary dairy product consists of 1 ingredient, the list of a protein product is a lot longer. So it is a product that is much more processed. For health reasons, it is better to choose unprocessed products as much as possible.
The advantage of protein products is that they are convenient. They are often portion-packed and easy to take with you. Besides, you don't always crave a big bowl of skyr when you get home late at night from working out. A protein drink is often a bit easier to have then. They are also available in different flavours, which keeps it tasty and fun.
It is better for your wallet and health to opt for as natural as possible, but it certainly can't hurt to opt for a protein product once in a while. That way you keep it fun and varied for yourself.
