Newsletter 3 year 11 - Autumn & Winter edition
Autumn has arrived, which means another new sports season has also started at Taus Gym. For the upcoming season, we are once again ready to stay fit and safe together during the autumn and winter months! In this newsletter, you will find information about the winter outdoor training sessions, the end-of-year drinks, the pre-tests and exams, the member outing shooting, the first aid course, Meet The Marines and the holiday schedule.
Winter outdoor training courses
To make the training sessions fit in well with this sports season, we are running no less than four winter outdoor training sessions. The week from 12 to 15 December is all about training in the dark. This applies to the adult, youth and children's Krav Maga classes. For this, you should bring everyday clothing and footwear in order to train as realistically as possible. We recommend wearing several layers, so you can easily take something on or off. In addition, bring your normal sports gear, as we will train inside if the weather is bad.
The gathering location is the standard training venue. We hope to see everyone at these special training sessions!
End-of-year drinks
This year, we will once again organise the end-of-year drinks party, so that we can all end this sports year on a good note. We will arrange the snacks and drinks and we hope that you will come and provide the fun!
The drink will take place on 10 December, at 19.00h at our location in Tilburg. The address is Professor Romeinstraat 11a. All members aged 16 and over are welcome to come and celebrate the end of the year with us. The contribution for the drink is 15. You can register via the contact form. Be sure to register before 19 November.
We hope to see everyone on 10 December!

Members' outing Shooting
It has been a while since we organised a members' outing. So now seems like the right time for us all to do something fun again. This time we want to go shooting again at shooting club Triborgh. We will gather at the Taus Gym location in Tilburg and from here we will all go to Triborgh.
We are still discussing the details with Triborgh but it looks like it will take place on Saturday 3 December in the afternoon. The fee will be 25,- euro p.p. After registering, you will receive the exact details as soon as they are known.
Interested in joining the member outing? Let us know via the contact form.
First aid course
We will soon be running another first aid course. This course will focus on first aid in sports accidents. This will enable us to ensure the safety of Taus Gym members. Members are welcome to join this course, with a maximum of 10 participants. The course lasts half a day, in addition to which participants will have to complete an e-learning. After this course, participants will receive a certificate, which complies with European legislation.
Participation in the course costs 135, which includes the practical day, the e-learning module and your registered diploma. The course will take place at the Taus Gym location in Tilburg. Interested in participating? Then register via the contact form.
Meet The Marines
After our roaring success this year at Meet the Marines, we plan to participate again next year. Meet The Marines is an event where participants have to work hard together for 24 hours to achieve physically and mentally challenging missions. These missions are led by the elite of the Dutch armed forces. During the missions, you will discover where your limits are and how to deal with them. A full team of our members is already going.
The 24-hour Marine Experience starts on Saturday 20 May 2023 at 11.00 and ends on Sunday 21 May 2023 at 12.00. The cost is 175 per person. The location is Loganbes 16 in Rotterdam. Would you also like to join our team? Then register quickly via the contact form.

During the autumn and Christmas holidays, a modified schedule goes into effect. You can find the adjustments in our agenda.

Intestinal complaints around exercise
Sufficient exercise is important for good bowel function. It stimulates circulation and the squeeze-push movement of your bowels. It combats constipation and has a protective effect against colon cancer.
Still, you may experience gastrointestinal symptoms around intense exercise. Think heartburn, diarrhoea, bloating, flatulence, nausea or abdominal cramps. This can be a problem especially with prolonged exercise. Causes may include mechanical shock movements during exercise, temporarily reduced blood flow, hormonal factors and diet.
Do you ever suffer from gastrointestinal discomfort during and after exercise. In that case, try the following tips:
- Have a large meal 2-3 hours before exercising. Are you still hungry just before exercising? Have a small snack, such as some fruit, a cracker or a sandwich.
- Don't have a meal high in fats, proteins and dietary fibre before exercise. These nutrients need more time to digest.
- Do not have carbonated drinks before exercise.
- If gastrointestinal symptoms occur regularly: avoid gas-forming foods such as onions, beans and cabbage.
- Do not take caffeine before exercise.
Do you suffer from gastrointestinal complaints more often and want to change this? Then make an appointment at Gewoon Diëtetiek. Together, we will look for the cause of these complaints and find a suitable solution. From the basic insurance, you are entitled to 3 hours of nutritional guidance by a dietician. Please note that a deductible applies. Do you have supplementary insurance? Then you are often entitled to extra hours.
